I am blogging live from the basement of Eric Thomas, game designer of the Hacktastic d/20 RPG for Black Pigeon Press. This is my first experience gaming Hacktastic d/20, but I have attended cons with the Black Pigeon Press crew since Anime St. Louis 2008.

These guys run packed gaming rooms filled with laughter, dice rolling, and caffeinated beverage imbibing. My character tonight is an elven martial artist. We have just fought off a goblin raiding party in the game world and are about to order some pizza in real life.

Eric and his partner Craig Slate have put together a quick, clean gaming system and a compelling “swords & sorcery” world setting. At several cons and GameClubHQ Game Days, I’ve had the chance to spend some time with these guys and see their large, fanatical Hacktastic following of “Hackers” enjoying these guys’ storytelling abilities.

At the recent Archon 33, I pitched the idea to Eric and Craig of doing novels for the Hacktastic World setting. I am pleased and proud to announce that I am working on the first (of hopefully many to come) Hacktastic novels! The first one, “The Trouble with Trulks” is to be tentatively available in time for Anime St. Louis 2010.

Oops, gotta run….time to roll initiative.

In the meantime, check out Black Pigeon Press and the Hacktastic d/20 RPG.

Here’s our adventuring party: an elven martial artist/archer, a human man-at-arms, a human tomb raider/thief, a gutter gnome, and a trulk shaman.
